South African motorists can expect muted fuel price changes in September, with new data from the Central Energy fund showing that there will likely be modest relief for embattled consumers.

Commenting on the price, the Automobile Association (AA) said that 95 octane petrol is expected to drop by around four cents a litre, with diesel down by 19 cents, and illuminating paraffin by 24 cents.

The only fuel type set for an increase is 93 octane petrol, which will climb by about six cents a litre, the AA said.

The AA said that the retreat in oil prices has pushed petroleum costs lower, however, rand weakness against the dollar negated some of the decrease.

With the flat fuel price bringing little relief, BusinessTech looked at some of the most fuel-efficient budget cars you can buy in South Africa right now.
